Every year, somewhere between 160 and 180 million people settle in to watch what might just be the most wonderfully chaotic, glitter-soaked event on television: Eurovision. It’s come a long way since its modest start back in 1956, when just seven countries took part. Fast forward to now and it’s a full-blown spectacle – dozens of nations, unforgettable performances and a fanbase that spans pretty much every corner of the globe.
And this year? It’s the big one. The 70th anniversary.
With Vienna hosting, expectations are (rightfully) sky-high. Think bold staging, dramatic key changes and at least one act that leaves you wondering what you just witnessed – but it’s all part of the fun.
